A magical day

I have saved a phone number for more than six months now. I wanted to write a message but was too scared to be discarded.

It was the number of my nephew. He and his sister were the fun kids I used to play with when I moved to USA, right before my grad studies. I remember doing crafts with them for long hours. I will try to find a photo to put on here that shows our fun time together.

We got disconnected when I started grad school. His parents separated around the same time my parents did, and I was too consumed, selfishly navigating my own difficulties.

On a recent meetup, he mentioned missing our (me +arshad) presence during his difficult time, jokingly with my daughters. My daughters asked me later, how we were not around him. I didn’t know the answer, but probably, I did not have the bandwidth.

So, I collected his number and was too scared to face him. Today, out of nowhere, I felt it was that magical day. So I dropped those lines — simple ones saying sorry and telling him how I cherish the fun time we had.

foosh (it was a sound!)

There was an immediate reply back! Got a normal reply and something even more wonderful than I imagined. He bought a car named “nova”.

The new car he bought

Words do have magic.
